1. The cost is different:
The machine cost of the thermal barcode machine is low, and its consumable cost is correspondingly low, while the machine cost and consumable cost of the thermal transfer barcode machine are relatively higher.
2. The storage time is different:
This is very important for those who use barcode printers for the first time. The shelf life of things printed by thermal barcode printers is between half a year and a year. This depends on your storage environment to determine the actual storage time. On the contrary, the things printed by the thermal transfer barcode machine will be stored for a long time, generally more than two years, and the specific time depends on the selected ribbon and label type.
3. Different printing consumables:
The thermal barcode machine naturally uses thermal paper. There is a special coating on the thermal paper that will produce a chemical reaction and change color when heated, similar to the color change of photosensitive film when heated. This property of the layers creates thermal printing technology. The thermal transfer barcode machine uses more consumables: self-adhesive label paper, PET, PVC, washing water label, hang tag and other label media, and can also use thermal paper to print; thermal transfer barcode machine cannot What is missing is the carbon ribbon. In contrast, although the thermal barcode machine seems to be economical and does not need a carbon ribbon, in fact, the cost of the thermal paper dedicated to the thermal barcode machine itself is relatively high, and the storage time is limited, so it is generally used in some clothing stores, supermarkets, etc. It is used in the retail industry, which does not have high requirements for barcodes.
The working principle of the thermal bar code machine is that a semiconductor heating element is installed on the print head. After the print head is heated and contacts the thermal printing paper, the required pattern can be printed out. Its principle is similar to that of a thermal fax machine. The image is created by applying heat, which creates a chemical reaction in the film. This chemical reaction is carried out at a certain temperature. High temperatures accelerate this chemical reaction. When the temperature is lower than 60°C, it takes quite a long time, even several years, for the paper to become dark; and when the temperature is 200°C, this reaction will be completed within a few microseconds.
There are two main working principles of thermal transfer barcode printers: piezoelectric printing and thermal foaming. Because the piezoelectric printer only changes the mechanical pressure, it will not change the chemical properties of the thermal transfer ink.
